Beyond the Classroom: From Virtual to Reality

As much as information and communications technologies (ICT) promise to change the classroom, they will have even more of an impact outside the classroom, and will make it possible for students to learn outside the school and after school has finished. This has the potential of making learning something that is not only done in the abstract, not only done in theory, but something that is done as the learner lives and works outside the classroom. How do we shape learning in the classroom to anticipate learning outside the classroom? How do we assist students when they have left our schools and are in the community? This address will help teachers look forward to the day when they reach, and their influence, is extended as never before.
